Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Expands IHRM Feature in India
Samsung Galaxy Watch 7, along with previous models like the Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 4, will now support the Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRM) feature in India. This feature, previously available globally, leverages the BioActive Sensor in Samsung’s smartwatches to detect irregular heart rhythms that could signal atrial fibrillation (AFib) — a potentially life-threatening cardiovascular condition. Samsung announced this significant health-focused update on Wednesday, marking a notable advancement in smartwatch health capabilities in the Indian market.
IHRM Notification: How It Works
The IHRM feature operates in conjunction with the existing Blood Pressure and Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring functionalities of Samsung smartwatches. When the Galaxy Watch 7 detects several irregular heart rhythm readings, it prompts the wearer to conduct an ECG for more accurate detection, enabling users to take proactive measures against AFib. Users in India can access this feature by updating the Samsung Health Monitor app through the Galaxy Store and toggling the setting within the app.
Galaxy Watches: A Lifesaving Tool
Samsung smartwatches have been instrumental in saving lives by detecting abnormal heart rhythms. In a notable case from March 2023, a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro user discovered symptoms of atrial fibrillation using the ECG feature, which led them to seek medical attention and prevent a potentially dangerous situation. With the rollout of the IHRM feature on the Galaxy Watch 7 and other models in India, Samsung continues to empower users with tools that could potentially safeguard their health.
