Launched: Meta Quest 3S With 4K Displays and Full-Colour Passthrough Features: Details, Price

Meta has introduced its latest mixed reality headset, the Meta Quest 3S, at the Connect event on Wednesday. Positioned as a more affordable alternative within the Quest 3 lineup, this headset offers impressive features like 4K Infinite+ displays, full-colour passthrough capabilities, and AI-powered functionalities. Running on Meta Horizon OS, which has been optimized for spatial computing, the Quest 3S promises to deliver an immersive mixed reality experience. Alongside this launch, Meta also unveiled its Orion augmented reality glasses and announced a price drop on the Quest 3 model.

Meta Quest 3S Price and Availability

The Meta Quest 3S is available at a starting price of $299.99 (approximately Rs. 25,000) for the 128GB model, while the 256GB variant is priced at $399.99 (approximately Rs. 33,000). Pre-orders are already open, with shipments beginning on October 14. In the box, customers will receive the Meta Quest 3S headset, two Touch Plus controllers, wrist straps, AA batteries, a charging cable, and a power adapter. Additionally, those opting for the 256GB version will also receive a complimentary copy of Batman: Arkham Shadow and three months of Meta Quest+ subscription. Accessories like the Elite Strap, Elite Strap with Battery, and Meta Quest Carrying Case are sold separately.

Meta Quest 3S Specifications and Features

The Meta Quest 3S boasts 4K Infinite+ displays with a resolution of 2064×2208 pixels per eye and enhanced field of view. It features pancake lenses, a spacer for glasses wearers, and Zenni MR Prescription Lenses for additional comfort. Powered by the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset with 8GB of RAM, it offers smooth performance. The mixed reality headset enhances the Passthrough feature with better contrast and color, while Dolby Atmos support and Theatre View make for an enriched multimedia experience.

With Meta AI integration, users can activate the assistant using the command “Hey Meta,” and the headset’s Travel Mode allows for on-the-go use, including future support for trains. The Quest 3S supports a wide range of Meta’s existing apps and games and will offer exclusives like Batman: Arkham Shadow.
