Huawei’s Tri-Fold Smartphone: A Glimpse into the Future of Foldable Tech

Huawei’s ambitious venture into the world of foldable smartphones is taking a bold new turn with the development of a tri-fold device. Recently, a prototype of this innovative smartphone was spotted in the hands of a top Huawei official, fueling speculations and excitement in the tech community. Though the exact launch timeline remains unclear, the anticipated price of this device has already started making waves.

Huawei Tri-Fold Smartphone Price (Expected)

The rumored price of Huawei’s tri-fold smartphone has raised eyebrows across the industry. According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by user @jasonwill101, the development prototype of this handset is priced at an astonishing $4,900 (approximately Rs. 4,11,000). Even more concerning is the speculation that the mass-market version of the phone might still carry a hefty price tag, potentially costing around CNY 29,000 or $4,000 (approximately Rs. 3,35,000). If true, this would make Huawei’s tri-fold smartphone the most expensive mass-market device, outstripping the cost of current foldable smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 by a significant margin.

Underwhelming Internals for a High Price?

Despite its steep price, Huawei’s tri-fold smartphone may not offer top-tier internals to justify the cost. Reports suggest that the device could be powered by a Kirin 9 series chipset, with the Kirin 9010 being a likely candidate. This processor is also rumored to be featured in the upcoming Huawei Mate 70 series. However, the Kirin 9010 may not match the performance of other flagship processors such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or MediaTek Dimensity 9300, potentially leaving some consumers questioning the value of the device.

Huawei Tri-Fold Smartphone Rumours

The design of Huawei’s tri-fold smartphone is expected to be nothing short of groundbreaking. The device is rumored to feature a 10-inch inner display that can fold thrice, thanks to a dual-hinge system that creates three separate screen sections. This innovative design may allow one screen to fold inwards while another folds outwards, offering a unique user experience and pushing the boundaries of foldable smartphone technology. As the tech world eagerly awaits more details, Huawei’s tri-fold smartphone is shaping up to be a game-changer in the industry, albeit at a potentially prohibitive cost.
