Google Pixel Watch 3: Only replacements, not repairs

Google has confirmed that its latest smartwatch, the Google Pixel Watch 3, cannot be repaired once broken. This revelation means that customers will have to rely on replacements rather than repair services. The company has stated that no hardware service support is available for the wearable in the US, continuing the trend from its previous models. Customers with the Preferred Care protection plan will be able to get a replacement at a discounted rate, while others may need to explore third-party repair options or purchase a new device altogether.

Google Confirms No Repair Options for Pixel Watch 3

Following in the footsteps of its predecessors, the Google Pixel Watch 3 will not be repairable if damaged. Google had already adopted this approach with the first and second-generation Pixel Watches, and the latest model continues this trend. A company spokesperson confirmed that broken units of the Pixel Watch 3 cannot be fixed, and customers will need to opt for a replacement.

Preferred Care Plan Offers Subsidized Replacements

For those who have enrolled in Google’s Preferred Care program, the Google Pixel Watch 3 replacement process will be more affordable. Available in select countries like Canada, Japan, the UK, and the US, the program costs $89 and allows users to get a replacement watch for $49. However, users in countries where this program is unavailable will have fewer options and may need to resort to unsupported third-party repairs.

Pixel Watch 3 Specifications and Features

The Google Pixel Watch 3 comes in 41mm and 45mm display sizes, featuring the new Actua display with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, doubling the brightness of its predecessor. It includes enhanced fitness tracking features like cadence, stride length, and vertical oscillation. Despite the upgrades, the watch’s battery life remains unchanged at 24 hours with the always-on display mode. The 41mm variant offers 20% faster charging, but the larger model retains last year’s charging speed.
